How long will it take to adjust to my new extensions?

It can take up to 2 weeks to adjust to your new extensions, although this is rare. You may experience some tightness, discomfort or tension, which is normal, especially if you are a first timer. Not everyone's hair is suitable for extensions, and if you are unsure, a strand test should be done first.

How often do they need to be moved up?

Your hair extensions need to be moved up every 4-6 weeks. This is absolutely essential to the health of your extensions and your natural hair, as your extensions can cause damage to your natural hair if left in too long. DO NOT remove them yourself. This will damage your hair. They must be removed by a professional.

How often should I wash my new extensions?

Hair extensions don't have the supply of natural oils and nutrients that our growing hair has, so they don't need to be washed as often. Ideally you should aim to cleanse them once or twice a week.

Tape: Do not wash your hair for 48 hours post application.

Clip-ins: They should be washed once every 10 wears.

What Products can I use?

A lot of products are detergent based, and contain protein, keratin, sulphates and high alcohol levels. This will damage your new extensions and strip them of their natural moisture, making them tangle easily. Once this happens it is irreversible. These ingredients can be hidden in products so it is essential to use high quality products without any nasty chemicals.

How long will my hair extensions last?

Our luxurious range of hair extensions can last 6-12 months if cared for correctly. The lifespan of extensions is a direct reflection of how well they are looked after once applied.

What quality of hair do we use?

Remy, double drawn, and thick ALL the way to the ends. Remy is the highest grade of extensions, and means the cuticle are aligned to ensure the smoothest, silkiest extensions.

Can I colour/tone my extensions?

19th Avenue Hair Extensions are made from 100% human hair. This means you can colour, tone and purple shampoo them just like normal hair. However, this must be done by a colouring professional to ensure correct results. Absolutely DO NOT bleach the extensions.

Can I straighten/curl my extensions?

Yes! They are 100% human hair, so they can be straightened, curled and heat styled like your own hair. Part of your daily routine should be to smooth your extensions with your straightener to help them look as tamed and silky as possible. We recommend a max temperature of 180°c/ 350°f.

Will my extensions shed?

Shedding is normal for any method of extensions, the same as it is for your natural hair.

Will extensions make my hair fall out?

Absolutely not! If applied correctly, extensions will not cause massive hair loss or bald spots. This usually happens when someone who is not qualified applies hair extensions.

Can I swim with hair extensions?

The salt water and chlorine can damage your extensions, the same it does to your natural hair. We recommend to avoid wetting your hair in the pool or ocean to keep your extensions from feeling dry and unruly.

If you are going to swim, wear your hair in a plait and use a moisturising treatment on them afterwards.
